ARGENTINA PARTICIPATED IN LATIN AMERICA DAY IN COLOGNE

Our country participated in the 76th edition of the “Latin America Day” (LAT), an event organized by the Latin America Business Association (LAV) in the city of Cologne, Germany.

LAV is the network of German companies and public institutions with interests in our region. Its activities range from organizing events, networking and supporting the activities of its members in Latin America and the Caribbean. At the same time, it seeks to promote economic, political, social and cultural relations between Germany and the countries of the region, in conjunction with the Latin American Initiative of German Companies (LAI), and in close collaboration with federal ministries, cooperation and development institutions, diplomatic representatives, political foundations and regional organizations.

The motto of this year's conference was: “Setting a course together - Germany and Latin America in dialogue”.

The official opening included a keynote speech on the “restructuring” of relations between Latin America and Europe by Sarep Gülep, State Secretary of the German Foreign Office. The conference was followed by panels on the health sector, parallel forums dedicated to green energy in Central America, smart mining in the Andean countries and sustainable agricultural industry in the Southern Cone.

During the day, Ambassador Betina Pasquali de Fonseca had fruitful meetings with representatives of Argentine companies, investors and think tanks, and at the closing of the inaugural day during the gala dinner, together with her colleagues from Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, she made a presentation on the prospects of the EU-SM Agreement. The debate was moderated by Dr. Hildegard Stausberg, a renowned German journalist specialized in Latin America.
