On June 20, the event “Argentine Readings on Marcel Proust” was held at the Reiner Speck Library in Cologne.
The event, organized by Professors Matei Chihaia (Bergische Universität Wuppertal) and Victoria Torres (Universität zu Köln), paid tribute to the career of Prof. Dr. Wolfram Nitsch, a novelist and distinguished professor in the field of Romance Studies at the University of Cologne.
The event featured presentations by Margarita Merbilhaá (Institute for Research in the Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of La Plata—National Scientific and Technical Research Council) and Walter Romero (Director of the Dr. Gerardo Pagés Institute for Research in the Humanities, Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires—University of Buenos Aires, National University of Tres de Febrero, and National University of San Martín).
In addition, the documentary “El tiempo perdido” (Lost Time), directed by Argentine filmmaker María Álvarez, was screened. The film won the Best Argentine Film Award at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival and received a nomination for Best Feature-Length Documentary at the Amsterdam International Documentary Film Festival (IDFA).
We thank the speakers, organizers, and the entire audience for this event, which highlighted the development and history of Argentine literary scholarship.
